Dear Family,

We are beginning a unit on rocks and minerals. This integrated unit will be fun and
exciting for your 6th grader! As a class we are going to be learning about the different types of
rocks, rock characteristics, and classifications. Over the next 2 weeks of school we will be
participating in fun rock and mineral activities that will integrate subjects including science,
math, language arts, and history.
I would love to invite my 6th graders families to help out with the rock and mineral unit!
If you would be interested in helping out with preparing activities, running activities, or even
cleaning up, that would be of so much help. There will also be a couple of days where some
of the activities will include snacks. It is my responsibility to ask and confirm if there are or are
not any allergies in the classroom. If you have any further questions, please email me at
