demonstrate knowledge of the United States geography. State locations, city
locations, oceans, and landmarks.

Warm Up: NONE NEEDED

Transition:
- Students sitting at their seats to begin.

Set Induction:
PowerPoint
- This month we have been learning all about the
50 states! Who can tell me what your favorite
state is? Why?
- Does anyone have family that lives in a different
state?
- People can live in the same country but in a
different state!
Learnable Piece:
- Today, we are going to review what we have
learned about the 50 states!
o States have capitals
o The United States is broken up into regions
o Mexico and Canada border the US

Everyone will be broken into 4 groups!


All of the groups will answer the same questions
on the screen but before you answer the
question, you have to do the physical activity!
After you have finished the physical activity,
jump up and down to get Ms. Fishs attention
without saying the answer.
Ms. Fish will call on the first group to jump up
and down and then they will answer!
The group to answer the most questions
correctly wins!
Now lets count off my 4s

Transition:
- When I say go, I need you to stand up and find
your group.
- Group 1 will be up in the front left, Group 2 will be
up in the front right, Group 3 will be in the back
left, and Group 4 will be in the back right
- Now, lets do a practice round!
CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING:
What do you do once you see the question on
the slide? (Do the activity on the slide)
What do you do once you have finish the
activity listed? (Jump up and down to get Ms.
Fishs attention to answer the question)
SAFETY: Make sure you have enough space
around you so you dont hurt your neighbor!
Guided Activity Time with Corrective Feedback:
- PowerPoint Questions
- Students will complete the physical activity and
then jump up and down to signal the group has
an answer
o Question 1: Name the two oceans that
touch the United States? (Atlantic &
Pacific)
o Question 2: Name the states that make up
the mainland west coast? (Washington,
Oregon, & California)
o Question 3: Where is the White House
located?(Washington D.C)
o Question 4: Name three states that start
with the word new? (New York, New
Jersey, New Hampshire)
o Question 5: Name two mountain ranges
that are in the United States? (Rocky,
Cascades, Appalachians, Adirondacks, &
