    I think representation means how a character or object is conveyed to us in
    the tv or film series.

    Misfits
    Misfits is a British science fiction comedy-drama television show,
    on E4, about a group of young offenders sentenced to work in a
    community service program, where they obtain supernatural
    powers after a strange electrical storm.

    Watch the opening scene to Misfits. Write down how you feel
    youth is represented in the scene.
    Youth are being represented in a bad way, this clip shown that
    the youth can be very disrespectful and can be harmful to
    others.

    How do the characters powers reflect the characters themselves?


    Simon has the power of being invisible this is a good
    representation as he seems to be the ghost of the group and no
    one pays attention to him.
    Alishas power reflects her because in the opening scene she
    seemed to sexual towards the audience and her power is to
    make people sexually desire her.
    Curtis can time travel and it relates to him because he seems to
    have always wanted to go back in time to help him with his
    mistakes.
    Kenny can read peoples minds and it seems to match her
    personality because she always had seemed to be self-conscious
    so she can see what they think of her.

    Overall how are youth being represented in Misfits?


    At the start of the episode the youth are being represented as
    disrespectful, harmful and a stereotypical youth.
    When we move through the episode the characters go through
    transformations and are made not to be the people that they are made
    out to be at the start.
    The youth become different people and the powers reflect their lives
    now.
    The powers are shown above and Curtis wants to go back and make up
    for his mistakes, thats why he got that power, we can tell this by some
    of his body language and a scene within the first episode we see this by
    him looking back at past videos. The youth at the end of the episode
    have a completely different personality and was shown within the media
    text.
