DEAR MS. LUND,
My name is Michelle Braden and I am currently a senior at the University of North Florida. I will be graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics upon completing spring semester 2017. This letter is to indicate to you my intent to attend the Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics with the Masters of Science concentration at the University of Washington. Now a few things about me personally. I was born and raised in eastern Washington and have always loved the beauty and opportunities of the pacific northwest. After graduation from high school I joined the United States Military and was able to serve my country during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. This experience has given me both leadership skills and an ability to manage small and large groups to accomplish complex objectives. During my adult life I have lived in many different parts of the United States including California and currently Florida, though I have always felt like Washington is home. Exposing myself to these different cultural areas within the United States has helped me to be able to relate to people from all walks of life and with different backgrounds and priorities. Professionally, I have been both self employed as a cosmetologist and also have experience managing a retail store. These two very different positions allowed me to grow in diverse capacities including being self-motivated and able to set and achieve goals for individually, as well as being able to accomplish the goals of a larger company through teamwork and managerial delegation and supervision. During my time as a student at the University of North Florida I have taken advantage of multiple volunteer opportunities in the nutrition world. These have given me insight into the daily life of and RD and shown me how many opportunities are waiting to be pursued. I have also enclosed my resume which highlights some additional information which you may find helpful when reviewing my application. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
