I am a senior in the Nutrition and Dietetics program at the University of North Florida. I am
writing to apply for the Family Support Worker job position as advertised in the State of Florida
Human Resources jobs website. I have heard of the Florida Health Department through all my
college years, and volunteering experiences. Furthermore I am seeking to work as a nutrition
educator at the Florida Health Department, because I can see myself developing my professional
career in an environment where excellence and collaboration are one the main values as
described in the Departments ICARE values.
Moreover my past experiences in the nutrition field such as: Internships and volunteering
opportunities had helped me to develop certain skills needed for this job. The job description
mentions several time the word Assists, and assisting or guiding others to find solutions is the
one of the main things I learned while volunteering. Moreover Observes is a skill mentioned
more than once in the job description, and talking to patients helped to develop my observational
skills, which I consider the most important skill in the healthcare field, because when problems
are closely observed and monitored the solution to a problem can be more specific and effective.
Also I consider myself as a compassionate person, and this feature, in my opinion, is the pilar
when working in the health field.
I believe that my previous experiences in community nutrition in combination with the
knowledge gained in college, I will bring many benefits to Florida Health Department. I would
