How To Adjust a Notch Using Magnetic Planes


Define the size of the user plane.
This can be done using the old points method
or directly using the new SNAPS function

From the custom element editor select create


user-defined plane

Select the points to define the plane (only 3 points


are necessary)
Then Enter to finish

A User plane is then created on the joint plane


(Seen here in the 3D view)

Select the user plane and move to the underside of


the notch.

Double click on the user plane to open the dialog.


Add a tick to the Magnetic
box and click Modify.
Then cancel to finish

Right click and select bind to plane


From the editor select outline planes

Select the top of the main beam

From the editor select Display Variables

Change the Formula value to 50

The variable value will adjust to suit

The change can also be seen in the model
