Activity

The activity for this standard will be similar to

a jigsaw, where the students will be divided into
groups of 3 to 4 students, and each group will be
given an explorer: Christopher Columbus, Juan
Ponce de Leon, Jacques Cartier, or Christopher
Newport. The students will research their explorer
on the computer provided. Once they have
completed their research, each group is to create a
wiki with all the information they have compiled

Directions for Use

1. Click on Safari.
2. Type www.wikispaces.com into the search
bar.
3. Once the page loads, click on sign in in
the top right corner.
4. Fill in the username: mstie001 and the
password: tpack2016
5. Once you are logged in, click the
AmericanExplorerWalter wiki under
favorite wikis in the middle of the screen.
6. Only one person in the group needs to do
this next part: Click the add page option
(the blue one) in this bar on the right hand
side of the screen.

Name the page Christopher Columbus, Juan

Ponce de Leon, Jacques Cartier, or
Christopher Newport, depending on which
explorer your group was assigned. Make
sure the tag is named the exact same. Then
you can click the create button.
7. Now your group should be able to work on
the wiki that was just created. Make sure
the wiki includes four accomplishments and
two pictures about your explorer on the
wiki.
8. Once your group is finished, hit the save
button in the top right corner.
9. Now the wiki is complete.
10. When everyone is finish with their wiki in
the class, each group will present their wiki
to the class.
