animal medical environment, veterinary
practice, animal research institution,
humane shelter, regulatory animal control
facility, or commercial animal production
operations.

I knew having experience should be

important, but I did not know that all these
could be an opportunity for experience

During the admission process, you'll be

assessed on your communication skills
either through personal essays or in
personal interviews. Veterinarians need to
communicate effectively with staff and
animal owners, and so this can be a key
component used by schools when
considering your for admission into their
veterinary program.

I never thought that communication could

be so important when applying for vet
school

Veterinary colleges and universities make a I am glad that I now know this because it

This shows me that I should get more

involved in groups and hold more
leadership positions

In many cases, there are no more than one

or two institutions of higher learning in a
given state that offer master's or doctoral
programs in veterinary science. In such
cases, schools often give preference to instate students first.

The school I want to go to is in-state so this

should be beneficial to me.
