Grade 5/6 Social

Unit 1: Canada and its Identity


September 12th December 23rd
Objective: This unit will introduce the provinces and regions of Canada to the grade 5 students while providing a review
for the grade 6 students. All students will be expected to complete the Provinces and territories of Canada quiz half way
through the unit as well as a Regions of Canada Quiz and the end of the unit. To prepare for the Regions quiz students wi
be broken into groups and expected to create a poster/ visual presentations of the region they were assigned. All students
will share their work and teach their peers demonstrating the benefits of peer powered knowledge in a multi-grade class.
