Rationale: Why is this lesson relevant at this time with these students?
Students will finish notes on the regions of Canada and then label a map of Canada. The map includes
important cities, bodies of water, rivers. They will have to colour the regions of Canada on the map.

completed their notes it will give them some insight into life in different cities across the country.

finding locations

show people the best order for putting stuff on the map get them too
look stuff up in the atlas colour the map hand in on Monday

6.

Accommodations (adaptations, extensions, other): How will you plan for students who have
learning/behavior difficulties or require enrichment?
Their is one student who is from another country and is ESL. He may have trouble finding and
labeling the things on the map offer him another mapping assignment. Instead of labeling all of the
rivers, lakes and cities on the hand out, he can label the provinces, capital cities and colour the
provinces not the reigions. This way he will still learn important geographical locations in Canada. If
he finishes this a head of time he can do a map of BC including important cities and colouring the
elevation.
