Youcancreatedrawinggeometryusing2Dsketchedgeometryonly,withoutreferencetoexistingmodelsorassemblies.Thissketchedgeometrycanbecontrolledby
relations(collinear,parallel,tangent,andsoon),aswellasparametricdimensions.
Sketchtoolsandsketchrelationsworkthesamewayinadrawingdocumentastheydoinapartorassemblydocument.Theonlydifferenceisthatinsteadofsketchingon
modelplanesorfaces,yousketchonthedrawingsheetorinanactiveview.
Whenyoudragasketchpointinadrawing,itsnapsorinferstoothersketches,drawingviews,blocks,anditemsinthesheetformat.
Ifyouaddsketchentitiestoadrawingview,theborderautomaticallyresizestoincludetheseitems.

SketchEntityAlignment
Youcanconstrainsketchentitiestogeometryinmultipledrawingviews.Userelationsasinsketches.Inthisexample,asketchpointinthetopviewiscoincidentwiththe
virtualsharpofthepart,andthesketchedlineinthebottomviewiscoincidentwiththeview'sgeometryandthesketchpointinthetopview.

ImportingSketchGeometry
YoucanimportDXF/DWGfilesintoaSolidWorksdrawing.Thenyoucaninsertthatgeometryintoasketchtocreatemodelfeaturesinapart.

2DEmulator
TheSolidWorkssoftwareincludesanaddinapplicationthatallowsyoutocreatesketchentitiesbyenteringcommandsintextform.

DisplayingaGridinDrawings
Totogglegriddisplay:

RightclicktheactivedrawingsheetandselectDisplayGrid.
Specifygridspacing,linestyle,etc.inTools,Options,DocumentProperties,Grid/Snap.

CreatinganEmptyDrawingView
Youcancreateanemptydrawingviewtocontainsketchgeometry.Whenthisviewisactivated,allsketchgeometryaddedbelongstotheview.Thesketchgeometrycan
thenbescaled,moved,anddeletedasagroupwhilestillretainingtheeditabilityoftheindividualsketchentities.

Tocreateanemptydrawingview:
1.ClickEmptyView
(Drawingtoolbar)orInsert>DrawingView>Empty.
2.Clicktoplacetheviewinthegraphicsarea.
