For People with lower limb amputations, the main aim during the treatment is to
allow standing, walking, running, cycling, climbing and other athletic activities,
providing maximum support and conserving as much energy as possible to
attain normal life. The use of high-tech materials such as carbon ber and
Titanium allows us to make the prosthesis as light as possible. The use of
different articial feet and knee joints provide a high degree of function. A
modern high-tech prosthesis can provide much more than a simple
articial leg, with the combination of various components with smart
features of energy storing - releasing the energy during walking and
running by using the pneumatic, hydraulic and electronics system to
control and stabilize the leg.

Loss of complete body parts (like full arm, leg, shoulder etc.) is a major
functional loss which hampers the daily life of a person or individual.

In modern orthopaedic technology, prosthetic ttings are mainly done with gel liners for many years now. Since the early beginnings up to today, the specic
characteristics of polymergel have been expanded to meet the manifold demands of orthopaedic technology and now form a product line of liners with great variety.
The softer and thicker the gel, the less it is designed for higher activities and the lesser will be its durability in case of higher activity levels. The target group for
these liners are patients with grade 1-2 of the walky system or with very sensitive and boney stumps. The thinner and harder the polymergel, the
better the capability of control towards the shaft and the higher the patients' possible activity level. As a rule, a harder material is more
durable than a softer polymergel. The target group for these liners are patients with grade 2-4 of the walky system.

COMPRESSION GARMENTS

Elastic compression garments are worn by a person with lymphedema on the affected
limb following complete decongestive therapy to maintain edema reduction and to
compress the arm or leg and encourage the ow of lymph uid out of the affected limb.
Depending on the therapist's discretion, a compression garment may be custom-t or
purchased in over-the-counter, standard sizes. Compression garments are meant to be worn twenty
four hours a day, every day to maintain edema reduction and must be replaced on a regular basis. It is
very important that the patient obtain a correct t for their compression garments by getting
professional help. Some people will require custom-made compression garments and it is important
that these garments t correctly.
