I'm Malek resident in prosthodontics in the removable Partial prothesis deparment
and I am going to be speaking about a contemporary topic in dentistry, not
taught in our university, rare in courses and important for our daily pratice. I am
to going to tell you about dental photography : recommandations, tricks and tips.

d4 : 9 reasons should encourage you to enhace your dental photography skills. It
will help you in:
d5: Which equipments do we need ?
d6: The lip retractors. We have different types of retractors :

Metal or plastic

simple or double : the simple should be help by the patient or the assistant
while the double has a spring incorporated to keep it in position.

Should be autoclavable and doesnt interfere with the flash

d7: They are essential to photograph the indirect views : occlusal and distal
faces.
The mettalic mirros allow a better image quality through reflecting less light.
d8: The reflective coating of a glass mirrors could be applied (most of the time)
to the back or the front surface of the glass. In the first situation the reflection of
the structure would be doubled.
To prevent fog from forming on the mirrors during use, try the following tips:
Use an Anti-mist / Anti-fog spray for mirrors, or Heat the mirror in a tray of
warm water, or Have the patient inhale slowly while the mirror is placed or a
warm stream of air

d10: They give a black background, useful for close-up to highlight incisal edges,
and to black out areas of potential distraction.
d13: A ring flash gives shadowless illumination and is less harsh, and weaker in
power than a conventional flash gun.
A twin-flash unit is a more specialised piece of equipment, not as convenient to
use and not as essential for the average user.

d14: For smartphones, the advantage of a light close to the camera allows a
shadowless comparing to a camera.
Some compagnies propose some tools to enhace smartphones lightning.

d15: The LEDs flashs are a cheaper solution and they provide a continuous light.
However, the flash doesnt communicate with the camera body so its not
possible to put automatic mode.
