10800 Highway 707 Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 843-650-5600 Dear Senior Exploration Judges: I am a junior at St. James High School. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of graduating early. I had hoped that with this project I would be able to speed up the process of graduating. The idea of graduating is the scariest thing that I have ever experienced in my life. I am scared of going out into the real world, but this project has given me new ideas regarding my future. I chose my topic because for a long time Ive wanted to go into the field of forensic science. Everything about this field is interesting to me. I learned all about the inner workings of the CSI department of the Horry County Police Department. I learned what its like to work on evidence and how to process the evidence afterwards. I learned how hard it is to get funding for the CSI labs. This helped me so much when it came to writing my papers. I was able to use the knowledge I gained from my service in my papers. The process of the senior exploration was terrifying at first, and then it became easier. At first, I struggled with writing the annotated bibliography. It was the first time Id written an annotated bibliography. I floundered through my first research paper, but eventually I was able to successfully get through my second annotated bibliography and second research paper. My favorite part of the project was the service hours. This part was my greatest accomplishment in the whole exploration. This has really helped to explore my future. As I bring this to a close, I would like to thank you for taking your time to view my exploration. I put so much work into this project and I am very grateful that you are seeing this topic through my eyes. I hope that you are able to enjoy this portfolio as much as I enjoyed putting my time into it. Respectfully Yours, Mackenzie Adkins
