Tucson, AZ 85719 Director of Human Resources; As a University of Arizona Bachelors of Science in Nursing student graduating in December, 2016, I am delighted to begin my nursing career so soon. My familiarity with emergency nursing, commitment to nursing excellence through evidence-based practice, and ability to excel while under pressure will enable me to make a valuable contribution to your emergency team. I completed an Emergency Medical Technician certification that familiarized me with the role of an emergency nurse. I shadowed in trauma emergency at the Banner University Medical Center Tucsons Trauma Bay, as well. My experiences as an EMT student and trauma emergency observer sparked my interest in and familiarity with emergency nursing. I have prepared to be an emergency nurse by completing a five-week clinical preceptorship at the Carondelet St. Marys emergency department. Throughout the preceptorship, I demonstrated the role of the emergency nurse by increasing the number and complexity of patient assignments. In my role, I functioned as the main nurse for several patients with minimal guidance from my preceptor. I completed all skills within the scope of a student nurse, including initial and ongoing assessments, IV starts, medication administration, time management for required tasks, collaboration with other medical providers, documentation of performed services, patient teaching and many other duties in the nurses role. Upon completion of the emergency preceptorship, I contributed a total of 180 hours to hands-on emergency patient care. This preceptorship taught me that I could remain calm in the fast-paced environment while exceling as an emergency nurse. I am committed to nursing excellence, which is evident through my completion of a 60-page research thesis on nurse burnout prevention. Completion of this thesis has taught me to use current research to guide my nursing care. My experience and dedication to emergency nursing have given me the necessary perception to implement effective nursing care in an emergency department. Thank you for considering me for a position. I look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Sincerely,
