1. What requirements must you meet in order to study abroad? (i.e. GPA, etc.)
You must have a cumulative 2.75 gpa (Semester and academic year) or 2.5 gpa
(Summer). A minimum gpa of 2.5 is required at the time application. Students
must also have the approval of their respective departments and the Office of
International Affairs.
2. What are the three (3) different types of study abroad programs available to
students?
There are faculty-led programs, direct study abroad programs, and exchange
programs. The costs of some may be included in the price tuition.
3. What are the deadlines for applying for study abroad?
Spring: October 14
Summer: March 15
Fall: March 15
4. What are three different ways that you can raise money to fund your trip?
Financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships are all available to help students fund
trips. Its important to monitor your status to make sure youre eligible for each.
5. Name two (2) scholarships that can fund you for your trip and how you meet the
requirements?
Benjamin A. Gilman: US citizenship, student enrolled in a 2/4-year
undergraduate program in US, federal Pell grant recipient at time of application,
and applying/accepted to a study abroad program.
Fund for Education Abroad: U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.,
currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S.
(graduate students are not eligible) study abroad program must be eligible for

credit at the students educational institution, study abroad program must include
at least 4 weeks (30 days) in country/countries
6. Where would you like to travel to for your study abroad experience and why?
I would like to study abroad in China because I took Chinese throughout high
school. NCA&T doesnt offer Chinese as a foreign language class so I would use the
opportunity to continue my learning of the language.
7. Does A&T offer this as an option? If not, then what would be your second choice
destination?
NCA&T does offer China as a destination. An option would to do the exchange
program.
