All children should know how to count money, they know how much
they have saved up, or if they have enough to get the items they
want. This lesson will teach students how to figure out the value of
each bill or coin while giving them computer skills, basic math skills,
and critical thinking skills.

Michigan Common Core State Standards for Mathematics: Grade 2
Framework/Standard
Solve word problems and diagrams involving dollar bills,
quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and symbols
appropriately.

Learning Objectives
o Students will identify the different values of money.
o Students will calculate the cost of the money when adding or
subtracting it together.
o Students will calculate the value of money through word
problems.

Students will use technology by using kidspiration.

Procedure
1. Go to the computer lab
2. Student will make a diagram using kidspiration
3. Kids will pick an item they want to buy and they need to
make change for a $10 bill.
4. They need to make the change in three different forms.
5. Use pictures of coin and bills to make the change.
Assessment

Students will be graded on the diagram made from kidspiration
