    thattheVedicstudieshavedisappearedfromtheIndianacademy.
    ThelabourappliedtothestudyoftheVediclanguagebythewesternscholarshasbeen
    tremendousandwonderful.BecausetherewasnoVedicgrammarfromtheIndianschool,the
    westernscholarsthemselvesmadethespadeworkandproducedexcellentvedicgrammars.
    However,theywereonGreekandLatinmodel.Therefore,thetypicallyoldvedicformswere
    nomenclaturedinquiteforeignstyle.EvenifadiligentIndianstudentcouldrecognizetheform,
    hecouldnotidentifyitwiththetermsusedbyPanini.WhenthevedicgrammarofMacdonell
    wastranslatedintoHindi,itwasreckless.
    Itisnecessarytounderstandthemechanismofthewesternvedicgrammarians(which
    haditselfundergoneseveralrevisionsfromWhitneytoMacdonell).ForPresentindicative,
    thereisLatinPanini,forImperfectLang,forpresentimperativeLot,forpresentoptative
    Ling,andforpresentsubjunctiveLet.ThereisLitforPerfectindicative,LungforAorist
    indicative,andLritforFutureindicative.Sofarsogood.ButintheoldestlanguageoftheRV,
    thereisthePerfectpreteritecalledPluperfect,Pf.Imperative,Pf.OptativeandPf.
    Subjunctivefromtheperfectbase.ThereisalsoAoristimperative,optativeandsubjunctive
    fromtheAoristbases.AstudentofPaninicannotevenrecognizetheseforms.Thefollowing
