The above software packages are used in the analysis & design of the building. Input and output
is attached along with this document.
2.0
The building is modelled in STAAD pro as a 3D frame . The structural model includes all the
main frame members like columns and beams of the frames, basement wall & raft of the
building is modelled as 4 nodded finite element. Supports are modelled below column location
as per pile group. Transformer bays will be modelled using 4 nodded rectangular plate element
separated by expansion joint above foundation.

The Seismic loads are calculated according to the seismic coefficient method using Staad Pro.
the loads including dead loads & live loads are applied as joint/member/floor weights on the structure.
For Seismic case actual equipment load (100%) will be considered for lump mass calculation. And
Under Seismic lump mass calculation roof live load to be considered as 25% as per UBC 1997.
The total design base shear shall be determined from the following
VBASE
= Cv x I x W/ ( R xT )
=
=
The total design base shear need not exceed the following
VBASE
= 2.5 x Ca x I x W/ R
=
=
The total design base shear shall not be less than the following
VBASE
= 0.11 x Ca x I x W

DEFLECTION CHECK
Storey drift is check by taking results of storey drift staad output
Maximum deflection
M = 0.7 R S
S = Storey Drift as per STAAD
R = Response reduction factor = 5.5
Calculated storey drift using M shall not exceed 0.020 times the storey height(h ) as structures having a
fundamental period of less than 0.574 seconds i.e. Less than 0.7sec.
From below table maximum deflection is in Z-Direction for node no.9 which is 16.076 mm and for same
load combination deflection at bottom node no.19 in Z-Direction is 2.07 mm.
Therefore Storey drift, S
= 16.07-2.07 =13.97 mm
