DOES THE TYPE OF RUBBER AFFECT THE

MAX VOLUME OF A BALLOON?
If balloons are made of different rubbers does the
different rubbers or materials affect it's max volume

Rationale
My rationale for this project was to find out what rubber is best for blowing up balloons. The
material that has the most capacity will stay blown up more than the rest. This project will show
what material should be used for making balloons.

Hypothesis
My hypothesis is if the material affects the max capacity then the latex will be able to hold
the most volume because it can stretch the most.

Materials

Multiple nylon fabric balloons 9 in.

Multiple latex balloons 9 in.
Air pump
Pencil
Paper
Rubber band
Measuring tool
Camera

Procedure

Attach the pump end to the balloon that is being tested

Tie the rubber band around it so that the air cant escape
Blow up the balloon until it pops
Record the diameter of the balloon before it popped

Conclusion
In conclusion my hypothesis was wrong the nylon fabric actually held the most air.
The nylon fabric was able to hold more than the latex, which means that the
nylon fabric would be better at holding the most air or most other types of liquid
or gas.
