Single phase generators: How many heat units are generated when you use 70kVp,
400mA, and the exposure is .2S long in a single phase generator?
Formula: 70kVp x 400mA x .2S = 5,600 Hu
Three-phase generators: How many heat units are generated when you use 65kVp,
200mA, and the exposure is .1S long in a three phase generator?
Formula: 65kVp x 200mA x .1S x 1.4 = 1,820 Hu
High frequency generators: How many heat units are generated when you use 75kVp,
400mA, and the exposure is .03S long in a high frequency generator?
Formula: 75kVp x 400mA x .03S x 1.4 = 1,260 Hu

X-ray tube capacity is measured in heat units (Hu); the Hu is the unit that
determines if the technique (kVp, mA, and S) is safe for the anode/tube to operate
without malfunction.
