Dear Parents,
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

Our Christmas Fair is this Saturday at 12pm. We would love to see you there supporting our PTFA event. Any cakes
that are being donated on the Friday or the Saturday are most welcome! Any cakes which involve cream may be
better arriving on the Saturday.
Please ensure that you do not park within the school grounds as this will be completely taken up by parents and
staff who are helping at the event. Please consider our residents driveways and park away from school in an effort
to avoid congestion around the school. This will leave the local bus route clear also.
CHRISTMAS FAIR PTFA INVITATION
Our fair will start at 12pm and you are most welcome to attend this very important fundraiser for our PTFA. Our choir
will be allowed to enter at 11.45am as they will need to get ready to start our fair off with a bang! Once they have
performed, they will be free to enjoy the fair. Band players should also be ready to play soon after the start of the
fair. Monies raised at this event significantly help reduce costs of educational visits and ensure that pupils have better
resources to enjoy in school. It will come to an end shortly after 2pm. Any support that can be offered at the end of
the fair by moving furniture and putting our halls back together would be very much appreciated!
TH

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY- 9

DECEMBER

This Friday the Celebration Assemblies for KS1 and KS2 will be at 11am instead of 2.30pm. This is to give the PTFA time
to set up for the Christmas Fair.
PANTOMIME- TUESDAY 13

TH

DECEMBER

We will be having an early lunch at 11am and then departing at 12pm. The performance is set to start at 1.30pm and
will last 2 hours with the interval. We would like to invite our children to bring a non-fizzy drink or two and a packet
of sweets of a reasonable size.
Please could these refreshments be put into a named carrier bag to prevent any loss and upset.
We expect to return shortly before 5pm.
I would please like to remind parents not to park directly outside the school to allow the coaches to park
and let the children off safely.
Please collect your children from their classroom entrances so we can ensure that they are all collected
safely. Children will only be sent out to their parents once their teacher or teaching assistant can see who is
collecting.
We will communicate with school and texts will be sent to you if necessary to let you know of any delays due
to traffic conditions.
As we will be returning to school at approximately 5pm on Tuesday there will be no clubs on that day
afterschool. These clubs are Jujitsu, Ukulele, Guitar, and Spanish.
REPORTING YOUR CHILDS EFFORT AND ATTAINMENT
We have previously sent home a report card for parents to see their childs effort, attainment and behaviour. All
parents that have supplied school with an email address will receive an email from Classroom Monitor directing you to
your childs report in January. Teachers will spend the end of this term and the holidays ensuring that your childs
teacher assessments are up to date. We hope you find this information useful and informative making you aware of
your childs progress against their year group expectations. If you struggle in the New Year accessing this report please
do not hesitate to contact the school.
MRS TUNSTALL IS HAVING A BABY
At the end of this term Mrs Tunstall will be starting her maternity leave. Her role as teacher of the Reception Class will
be filled by Mrs Noblett. Mrs Noblett is of course a Year 1 teacher for Elephant class and her teaching responsibilities

will be taken up by Mrs Watts. I am sure that we would all like to wish Mrs Tunstall a very happy New Year baby. We
hope to see Mrs Tunstall back at the very end of the summer term.
GUITAR/SAXOPHONE AND BRASS ASSEMBLIES
There will be separate Guitar/Saxophone and Brass Assemblies this term. The Guitar and Saxophone Assembly will be

JUNIOR CAROL SERVICE 6PM 14

DECEMBER

Our carol Service at St Marys Brownedge Church will start at 6pm and we would like to ask that all our Junior
children attend to perform their class carol or Christmas song. It should be finished by 6.40pm at the latest for you to
collect your children but we would very much wish that you stay and enjoy this service of lessons and carols presented
by the children. This event is usually a really well attended one and is a lovely way to celebrate the true meaning of
Christmas together before the Christmas break.

JUJITSU
th

Jujitsu club has now finished for this term. The club will start again on Tuesday 10 January.
CAREFUL DRIVING PLEASE!
Parents have been observed mounting kerbs at the rear of the school when dropping off their children this morning
on Danesway. These are pathways that our children use for their safety. Please take greater care when driving and
dropping off at school to avoid future (serious) accidents.
TOYS ARE WELCOME ON THE FINAL DAY OF TERM
On the childrens final day this term, they are to be treated to a performance of Treasure Island as a reward for their
efforts. We have invited the Hobgoblin Theatrical Company to our school previously and it has been very popular! I
would like to invite your children to bring a toy for their final day however which can be played with other friends in
their class. Tablets and phones with games should not be brought or any item that requires a plug socket. Board
games or games that have a quick turnover in terms of time are ideal.
SWIMMING
th

There will be no swimming lessons on Thursday 15 December due to staff training. Swimming will be on as normal on
Wednesday and Friday of that week.

WORKSHOPS
Following parental questionnaire responses asking for more information on aspects of the curriculum, I hope you have
received invitations by your teacher to attend curriculum workshops that are currently running in different classes.
These are designed to help you find out more about the ways in which we teach key areas of mathematics such as
place value. More sessions are set to take place next term if you have not managed to attend your first this term, but
please keep your eyes open for these invitations as they can make a huge difference in the way that can support your

child at home and with their homework. We are making an effort to video these and are adding them to our
Learning section to allow parents to watch demonstrations if they wish to.
EARLY YEARS NATIVITY
The Early Years Nativity will take place on Thursday 8th December. Performance One will be at 10.30-11.30am in the
KS1 hall and will be for the parents of Lemur class and morning nursery children. Performance two will be at 2.003.00pm in the KS1 hall and will be for the parents of Chinchilla Class, afternoon nursery and full time nursery children.
SICKNESS & DIARRHOEA
We are experiencing both children and staff with illness presently, as we do every year around this time. If your child
is sick or suffers from diarrhoea, please help us contain this by allowing your child 48 hours absence. This will help to
prevent further sickness and absence in the future. Thank you.
