Set Induction: By show of hands, who here got a slow


start to their morning and is feeling groggy and tired?
Lucky for us we are going to all wake up together by
starting our day off with some exercise.

Learnable Piece: Successfully tell the difference


between nouns and verbs and how they are used in
sentences

Presentation of New Material/Directions: A word and


corresponding picture will be displayed on the screen.
Each one will be a noun or a verb. If the word displayed
is a noun, students will do a squat. If the word displayed
is a verb, students will do a jumping jack.
Transition: Students will stand up next to their chairs

Activity: Students will read the displayed word out loud


together and then perform the corresponding exercise
either a squat or a jumping jack. We will then transition
into sentences. The students will read the sentence out
loud together then either squat or do a jumping jack as
they come across the nouns and verbs in the sentence
that are bolded in red.

Possible Modifications: Use nouns and verbs in a


sentence and have students either squat or do a
jumping jack as they come across a noun or verb in the
sentence that they are reading out loud
