MONTHLY
SPOTLIGHT
To help our students reach their daily
target physical activity goal, I have
been working on incorporating simple
aerobic exercises into our daily
classroom lessons. Aerobic exercise is
activities that use oxygen for longer
movement, such as walking, skipping, or
dancing.
How does aerobic exercise help
cognitive development?
1. The demands of goal-directed
and engaging exercise
2. The cognition required to
execute complex motor
movements
3. The short- and long-term
physiological changes induced
in the brain by aerobic
activity.
By incorporating aerobic exercises
into our classroom, we are opening
the gateway for our students to
improve their cognitive development
while still having fun!
