Standard 5 Artifact Reflection
Standard 5: Impact on Student Learning
I chose my Lesson Objectives section of my Instant Activity lesson plan as the artifact for
Standard 5. In the Lesson Objective section of the lesson plan I described the goals that I had set
for the students and the degree to which I expected them to perform a specific locomotor skill.
For the particular lesson I had chosen hopping as the locomotor skill I wanted to focus on, but
the lesson plan can be easily modified to include several other locomotor skills in order to have a
good mix that helps to enrich students experience. The objectives that I listed in the lesson plan
help me to set a framework for understanding how well students can perform what I ask of them
in the lesson. The objectives serve as a sort of checklist for me to see which goals were met and
which could stand for improvement. Refining my ability to develop strong lesson objectives will
help me to become a more effective teacher and coach.
