I. Technical description and machine properties


The Ram type conventional milling machines continuously controlled with control system are designed on
well-tested configuration of separate movements. The table performs longitudinal and vertical movement
on knee, transverse movement is performed with the milling head. This
solution
in
combination with the sliding manually scraped massive conduit in
single directions
assures rigidity and accurate positioning of the machine. The
machine
is
designed either for vertical, or horizontal milling, drilling and
boring operations.
Wide range of revolutions and movements, high installed output
and great torsional
moment on the spindle enable machining of all kinds of materials
including
alloy
steels and light alloys. It is a multi-purpose machine defined for
piece
production and production of small series of middle heavy products
and highly
precise and very complex shapes.

The machine parts description :


1. Machine frame
are castings of grey iron GG 25. Guiding surfaces are covered with
steel hardened sheets hardened to min. 45 HRc, counter surfaces
are from cast-iron or covered with plastic. By the construction it was
respected the high rigidity and accuracy of the machine
Stand
On the cast-iron bed plate there is placed the cast-iron stand.
It is composed by the strong ribbed casting from grey cast-iron. On the front side of
the stand there are vertical guiding surfaces with dimensions 110x40 mm lined by
the hardened steel sheets. On the upper part of the stand there are transverse
guiding surfaces with dimensions 120 x40 mm.
Headstock
On transverse guiding surfaces of the stand moves the transverse pan
headstock. It is formed by the strong ribbed casting. On the headstock there is a
separate heat isolated gearbox mounted across the jaw clutch. Twist moment from
the gearbox is lead to the milling heads drive with the jaw clutch and across the
sandwiched wheel on the horizontal spindle placed in the front lower part of the headstock. The milling
heads drive runs permanent, the horizontal spindle by the setting of the milling head sets aside
automatically. On the forehead of the headstock is possible to mount either the milling head or supporting
arm with the bearing.
Knee
On the front vertical guiding surfaces moves the knee, that carries the longitudinal table. The knee
is a shape casting, on the back side of the casting there are vertical guiding surfaces on the upper
side of the longitudinal guiding surface. From the central servodrive feed are the particular
directions gradually shifted by the help of the electromagnetic clutches, the axes, that are not
shifted are fixated by the electromagnetic brakes. Parallel shafts are brought out to the front side of
the knee and here provided with the dividing rings with noniuses for admeasurement of the lenth of
the traversings. Into the dividing rings it is possible to push in the crank arm for the emergency
machines operation. The crank arm is arrested against the feed releasing.

Table
is a casting of grey iron. The upper area is furnished with T-slots. The longitudinal ball screw is
initial tended, so the parallel milling is possible. There is a bearing with a controller on the right side
of the table. The controller enables the switching-on either of the longitudinal feed or of drive for the
rotary mechanical table. On the left side is a cog-wheel that enables the drive of dividing unit or of
longitudinal dividing unit. On the table there are the guiding surfaces with dimensions 55x35mm at
FGS 50 T+ and at FGS 63 T+.
2. Gearbox
is a separate assembly unit that is mounted to the
milling spindle through heat insulated plate. The
gearbox enables by means of hydraulically
controlled shifters automatically shift 18 speed
amounts. Lubrication is automatic by electropump from the reservoir in the
stand.
3. Central servodrive
is placed on the left side of the knee. It drives across the cog-wheel the
feed rake in the knee. It enables continuous regulation of the working
feeds and shifting of the rapid rate and finishing microfeed.
4. Hardening of the guiding surfaces
The machine is equipped with the automatical hardening of the guiding
surfaces. The hardening is hydraulic. In thrust listels of all axes there
are holes equipped with small rams. These small rams automatically harden the axis
that is not in function.
5. Hydraulic aggregate
is a separate assembly unit placed in the column. The aggregate controls revolutions
change, tools clamping, recoil of the knee, hardening of the guiding surfaces.
6. Automatic tools clamping
tools in the horizontal spindle and milling heads are automatically clamped. The tool
holder is provided by the clamping bolt. The bolt is then through the ball collet by the
help of cup springs indrawn into the spindle taper by the force of 15 000N.
Unclamping of the tool proceeds hydraulically. The clamping is indicated by the limit
switch.
7. Automatic lubrication of guiding surfaces
is automatic depending on time. In the electric switchboard it is possible to set 3 lubrication time intervals.
The lubrication aggregate is placed on the stand door. The stand closes the area of the hydraulical
aggregate. Into the particular lubrication spots is oil accurately dosed by dosing devices. Aggregate is
provided by the level gauge indicating the absence of the lubrication oil and at the end of the lubrication run
is provided by the pressure switch that indicates possible lubrication breakdown. In case of the lubrication
breakdown is not possible to start the feeds.
8. Covering
vertical guiding surfaces above the knee are protected
against chips flying away and against cooling liquid with
telescopic metal covers. The transverse guiding areas are
blown by air. The working area is protected by the covering.
In the front part there are the devided door. After its pulling
out on the swinging sticks the whole lenth of the table is
accessible. On the right and left side is the working area
protected by the swivel covers, all these parts are carried by
the table. The back part of the working area is covered by
the firm covers carried by the knee. The input into the
working area is watched by the security switches. The
covering of the machine meets the requirements of ES
directive 89/392, amended by EC directives ES 31/368 and 93/44.

9. Electric outfit of the machine


is concentrated into the electric distribution box placed on the right side of the stand. The basis of the
control is programming automatic machine (PA, SPS) from the SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC company. This
automatic machine replaces the former relay control. In electric distribution box there are also placed the
output securing and switching devices and central servo-drive regulator. Electric distribution box is with
protection according norm IP 54.
10. Control panel
On the control panel there are concentrated the control machine elements, i.e.
the buttons of tool clamping control, of spindle start, of size and directions and
feed sense controls, speed shifting commutator, automatic cyclescommutator
etc. Controllers are well-aranged and logically made-up and provided
by the logical identification symbols.
11. Cooling equipment
Tank for cooling liquid with electric pump is placed outside the machine on the left side of foundation plate.
Cooling liquid is led through the back pressure valve and control valve to flexible sectional hose that
enables to lead the cooling liquid to the cutting spot. The cooling output is 28 dm3.min-1, 2 bar. The
capacity of the tank is 60dm3.

The head is supplied as


special accessories to the machine. This head
enables turning of spindle by hand in perpendicular plain to
transverse displacement. It is also furnished with pull-out sleeve.
By the help of this head it is possible to perform classical vertical operations.

This head as special machine accessories is fixed with the screw and the pin to the milling spindle
face. Turning of two bodies by hand inclined to each other under 45 o enables spindle turning to
any position in front hemispherical area. Turning is done by hand.

The head can be furnished with the lifting off unit, if required, that will swing away the head to the
left side of the column, where it can be fixed.
13. Horizontal fulfilment
Supporting arm with bearing, long milling arbor and lifting off unit
Supporting arm with bearing, lifting off unit and long milling arbor: it is supplied to the machine as
special accessories. The supporting arm with the bearing serves for supporting of the long milling
arbor. It is composed by the cast-iron casting, with the dovetail guidance for adjustable supporting
arm. The arm is clamped by the help of bolts and pegs on the
spindle face. The bearing is equipped with the sliding case for
the supporting of the arbor. It is possible to lift the arm to the
right side of the stand by the help of lifting off unit and to fasten
down here.

14. Quality and accuracy


In the course of production
and prior to the machine dispatch the
machine is properly tested and the protocols of accuracy are filled. Each machine is accompanied with the
protocol of geometric accuracy, and the protocol of the testing piece.

Notice: by the lenth of spindle axis to the table clamping board value 90-125 mm it is possible to use the
transverse stroke restrictly. If the headstock is in the transverse direction above the table, the vertical
stroke is restricted.
