Dear Congress,
The United States has a lot of issues in their health care system
that need to be fixed. To begin with, the United States does not provide
universal coverage. Between 40 million and 50 million citizens of the
US do not have insurance; therefore, if someone suffers from a disease
or sudden sickness and have to receive medical attention, they will
most likely not be able to pay off the bill and fall into debt. Also, the
price of health care is RIDICULOUS. Other countries spend between
$280-$750 a month and the United States citizens are forced to spend
between $1200-$1300 a month. That is way too much. Our country
has the lowest life expectancy age (77). We also have the highest
infant mortality rate (6.8). If more people could afford health care, the
number for life expectancy would increase and the number of infant
mortalities would decrease. This means that people would be able to
live longer, healthier lives. It is also terrible that health care insurance
companies can resist elderly people and citizens that are considered
high risk. The goal of an insurance company should be to protect all
lives from sickness and disease, no matter the circumstance. Excellent
care is only provided for those who can pay the $1200-$1300 a month.
Many other developed countries around the world provide excellent

health care to everyone at low, affordable costs. Overall, our nations

health care system needs to be greatly improved. The issues above
need to be fixed in order to improve the United States health care
system.
