CANDI TIKUS

CANDI TIKUS is a temple relic of the Majapahit Kingdom, located in the complex
Trowulan, precisely in Hamlet Tinuk, Temon Village, District Trowulan, Mojokerto
regency, East Java. The location on Wikimapia. This temple is one of the major
archaeological sites in Trowulan. CANDI tikus in the form of a ritual bath (petirtaan) in
complex administrative center of Majapahit. The main building consists of two levels.
This temple site excavated in 1914 on the orders of the Regent Mojokerto Kromodjojo
Adinegoro. Because many common rats at about the ruins, the site was later renamed the
Rat Temple. New Rat Temple restored in 1985-1989.
Candi tikus could have been built in the 13th century or the 14th century. This temple is
associated with the description in the book Negarakertagama Prapanca MPU, that there is
a place to bathe the king and certain ceremonies are performed in a swimming-pool
