Overall aim and context of the lesson: Say out loud what they are going to write
about. (Small group)
Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss (one
paragraph each) according to following:
1. discuss one aspect that you feel you did very well. Try to analyse why
you think it worked well and what hints you would share with other teachers
about the successful strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.
Positive aspect of the lesson:
I modeled very well the speaking instructions to the students and I felt there
were active with me. The activity has speaking and listening and the students
must tell their story and change the characters and setting in their stories.
Firstly, I remembered them to change their characters and setting in their
stories. While they telling their story, they have three talking cards and each one
from the group must tell the beginning, middle and the end. I told them the
beginning of my story and I put one talking card. Then I asked them to tell me
their beginning and put one talking card like me. Also, I remembered them to
use three specific words in their stories as the story they already know it. That
story they knew it, the teacher read to them many times and they know the
events well. Finally, they wrote their story in ice cream worksheet and it has
three places for three parts in their stories. I think that activity will help them to
improve their speaking and listening skills. It was telling their story before they
write it.
Requires Attention:
The problem was when I didnt manage well some misbehavior students. Some students
in the group were playing with the talking cards and they didnt sit and listened to
another students story. I think that occurred because the activity waste a long time and
they got bored about telling the three parts in their stories and the other students listen
to the student story. However, some of them sat nicely and listened carefully to others
stories. I would like to manage the students behavior by strategy that I have learned
from my MST. The strategy called freeze and twinkle fingers, is when the teacher will ask
the students to stop doing misbehavior and they will move their hand if they the teacher
said twinkle fingers but if it freeze they wont move their fingers.
