visualized having hockey
here and a home for other
local events, as well.
Bull riding, banquets,
car shows, agricultural
showcases, spay/neuter
clinics and more have had
the benefit of utilizing
VEC.
If you live in Glasgow
and beyond, you have
probably enjoyed at least
one event at VEC. In fact,
virtually everyone in the
community has invested
in it one way or the other,
whether it be donations
(remember
those
radiothons) or simply to
attend an event there and
spend a few bucks.

Vandalism at the Valley Event Center has gotten far worse than just trash strewn
about the grounds it sits on which is Valley County property. Del Hansen shows us the
latest escapade which is being investigated with a $500 reward offered to anyone with
the information leading to the arrest of the culprit(s) involved with this senseless act.

Scotty boys lose, girls win

Glasgow high school hoops got underway Thursday

evening playing at home with Roundup. The Panthers
got the better of the Scotty boys, pulling away in the 4th
quarter for a 60-49 victory.
The Scotty girls did the same thing to the Panthers,
pulling away down the stretch for the 48-36 victory and
giving their coach Travis Nielsen his first-ever win at
the varsity level.
Both teams are fun to watch. Unfortunately we
dont see the Scotties at home again until December
20th when Poplar visits. Theyre in Baker this evening,
at Sidney on the 15th and at North Country (just a hop
and a skip) on Saturday, December 17th before the
Indians arrive.

extreme cold continue, the snow is moving in now,
too. A couple of disturbances will spread snow from
west to east across the area over the weekend. The first
disturbance will bring 1 to 3 inches Friday night and
Saturday, with the best chances being across an area
from Dodson to Wolf Point down to Circle. The next
disturbance is expected to drop another 1 to 2 inches
Saturday night and Sunday, with the best chances being
south of a line from Thoeny to Culbertson.

Daines Pushes Army Corps on

the Spread of Invasive Mussels

U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana is pushing the

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to expedite the
deployment of funds for watercraft inspection stations to
combat the spread of adult mussels wreaking havoc on
Montanas ecosystem.
Daines met with the Commander of the Northwest
Division Brigadier General Scott Spellmon, DirectorPrograms Directorate, Northwestern Division Dave
Ponganis and Engineering Officer, Aide-de-Camp, First
Lieutenant Eric Chu.
Its important we get these watercraft inspection
stations up and operating its one of the most effective
ways we can stop the spread of invasive mussels, Daines
stated. We need to cut through the bureaucratic chatter
and talk about what we need to do now to stop the spread
of the invasive mussels which is negatively impacting our
ecosystem and economy.
The Northwest Division has jurisdiction over Seattle,
Omaha, Portland, Walla Walla and Kansas City Districts,
includes 14 states, 107 tribes and entirety of both the
Columbia and Missouri River Basins.
Recently, invasive mussel larvae was confirmed in
the Tiber Reservoir and possibly found in the Canyon
Ferry as well. If adult mussels spread, they can block
hydropower and irrigation ducts, as well as wreak havoc
on the ecosystem, recreation and tourism.
On November 29th, Daines staff met with Seattle
District Commander Colonel Buck to request Col. Bucks
personal attention to this matter.
On November 21st, Daines authored a letter to the
Corps requesting them to expedite implementation and
distribution of funds for watercraft inspection stations as
codified in Section 1039 of the Water Resource Reform
Development Act (WRRDA) of 2014.

The Glasgow High School Gymnasium turned into wall-to-wall wrestling mats
following last nights basketball games in anticipation of two great days of
wrestling here in G-Town. Beginning at 3:00 today were the duals which will
go well into tonight. The Scotty Invitational, featuring 21 teams, will be rockin
& rollin at 9:00 Saturday morning. Following the 3rd & 4th place matches, the
lights will come down for the championships; GHS Athletic Director Brenner
Flaten says youll probably want to be there by 3:30 for those. But you can
