The British

board of film
classification

The BBFC regulate the film

industry to provide every
movie with an age rating to
let the audience know who
the content is suitable for.
They do this to ensure
that parents are aware
of what they're children
should be watching.

This symbol means

the context is suitable
for everyone.

Parental guidance is
advised when
watching PG rated
films.
This symbol means
that children of 12
years and over are
able to watch it in the
cinema.
This symbol means
that the video
released is suitable
for children 12 years
and over.

When deciding which category the films

fall under, theylook at nudity, sexual
violence, sex, violence, drugs, horror,
discrimination and the impact it may have
on the audience. Other issues they check
over are sound, photo pattern sensitivity,
motion sickness and the release format.

Fantasy/Drama Movies:

As my group are creating a

fantasy/drama for our
opening sequence I
found that these are
mostly PG rated as films
such as the BFG and ET
are child friendly

Films like Harry Potter are U

rated as they do not convey
any issues that may affect
children.

Examples of other films:

The other woman- PG13
Shaun of the dead- 15
The conjuring- 15
Human centipede- NA
However, the human centipede faces
controversies because itwas seen as obscene
as the film shows explicit scenes throughout.
