Welding Skills Competition for Shielded Metal Arc Welding
(SMAW) Process using Carbon Steel Plates and Pipes
(NCI Level and NCII Level)

Dear Sir/ Madam,

The PWS plan to hold a Welding Skills Competition coincide with the 50th Anniversary of
Metals Industry Research Development Center (MIRDC) of the Department of Science and
Technology (DOST) and National Metals & Engineering Week Celebration.
As a valued corporate member, partner, supporter of PWS and key player in the welding
industry, may we cordially invite you and your company, institution once again to be a part
and participate in this momentous endeavour, where our welders can show off and flaunt their
skills competing with the industries best welders, earning for them and their organizations
prestige and accolade. The participation for this competition is open to all interested skilled
welders from the welding industries, welding fabrications and other related industry sectors.
The said competition is scheduled on May 26-27, 2016 and the awarding of the champions and
winners is June 14, 2016 together with the winners of other trade skills which were
recognized also by other local trade skills which were organized also by other local Metals &
Engineering Societies / Associations.
Attached herewith is a copy of the Application Form and Competition Mechanics for your
easy reference and information. Your support on this event is highly appreciated and it will be
the key factor for its success.
