EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) is the British Curriculum for children from birth to five years.

At
Blossom, EYFS and the Blossom Skygarden approach guides the teaching and learning. In Learning and
Development there are 7 key areas of learning. We use all the areas of learning and development when we
are observing, assessing, and planning for your childs individual needs. The areas of learning and
development make sure that we are constantly challenging your child and helping them to develop and
succeed. The seven areas are split into two parts: Prime and Specific Areas.

Skygarden is a Blossom curated experience based learning model that extends the British Foundation
curriculum (or any objective curriculum) by focusing on the senses and childrens emerging interests - that
which sparks their attention and imagination. The approach takes self directed exploration and focused
play and blends them with a fundamental belief that experience and doing fun things make learning a joy
that children respond to. The skygarden model aspires to ensure the reason why we do things is as
important as results and each day the lessons of life are learned through active play. Skygarden teaches
through the five senses and so classrooms move and toys and equipment are varied. Some activities we
do at nursery and can be done at home with great results are those that start by sensory isolation and
through heuristic play or everyday projects. Each Blossom Classroom has a Blossom Basket and
investigation materials that build sensorial awareness and focus children to see the world in new ways.
