I will give them an example of what a summary is by telling them what I did over
the weekend.

Together as a class we will make a summary for the story we previously read.

They will individually write a summary about what they did over the Thanksgiving
break.

Closure
Some students can volunteer to read their summary and we will review what we
learned.
