FIRST GRADE December NEWSLETTER

C. E. Rose K-8 Elementary

We are getting close to the end of our Second Quarter in School!

Thank you

Learning comes alive when a child is involved in discussions, questions

and explanations by the Teacher. This is not able to happen when a
child is absent. Your child success in school depends on having a solid
education background One that can only be gained by regular school
attendance.
Homework should be
30 minutes a night
(20 minutes reading
and 10 minutes
working with spelling
words).
Monday
20 minutes of reading
Read and spell
each spelling word
using the flashcards with your
child If possible,
review sight words

Tuesday
20 minutes of reading
Write each word 5
times in your best
handwriting!

Wednesday
20 minutes of reading
Write a sentence
for each spelling
word. Sentences
should have capital
letters and end
marks and should
make sense!
Your child should read
these sentences to
you!

Thursday
20 minutes of reading
Read and spell each
spelling word using
the flashcards with
your child.
Go back to sentences
from Wednesday
and find all of the

nouns and verbs using

a red and green crayon.
If you would like, give
him or her a
practice spelling
test where he numbers a paper from 110 and you read him
the words as if you
were the teacher
giving the test. (For
example, Number
One is
hat I just bought
a new hat. hat)

Friday
Read over the weekend
and keep adding to
your Reading Log!
