present, with emphasis on the Powhatan of the
Eastern Woodlands, the Lakota of the Plains, and the
Pueblo peoples of the Southwest.

Watch Learn 360 Native Americans: The History of a People
(Eastern Woodland segment (~5:15))
Read Myon Northeast Indians (p. 7-10 and 12-13focusing on
geography)
Talk about geographic regions of the United States based on
where American Indian tribes lived (focusing on Eastern
Woodlands). Discuss climate (seasons) in the Eastern
Woodlands.
Give students a map of the US.
Have students color the different geographic regions (plains,
eastern woodlands, southwest) Talk about the land features
of the Eastern Woodlands RIVERS, HILLS, MOUNTAINS, AND
COASTLANDS (will come back and focus on other regions
later)
Students will make a clay landscape using clay, tissue paper,
toothpicks, etc.
Assessment: Assess the students geographical map product
