Production Aims

As part of my Film studies F634 Coursework requirements, I aim to

produce a 20 key frame film sequence, demonstrating the various
representations of black males. I wrote an extended piece of writing
exploring my topic of how the representation of black males has
changed from the 20th century to present day, exploring films such
as Straight Outta Compton (2015), Dope (2015), Boyz N The Hood
(1991), and Coach Carter (2005). In the 20th century black males
had negative perceptions of them typically being portrayed as
objects of violence.
The idea in which I have come up with is to present a 20 key frame
that focuses on two reflective characters, Timmy and Ishmael and
how their friendship falls apart due to the areas that they live In and
how they deal with the violence. A number of my ideas were similar
to that of incidents that occurred in the film Straight Outta Compton
(2015) such as the friendship of the NWA and how that had fallen
apart due to the area they represented.
My main focus is the representation of black males in my final
production and how the main protagonists friendship have suffered
due to the areas having problems with each other. My main focus is
to make sure that the micro-elements are accurate as they can be.
Overall, I hope to create a 20 key frame that gives the audience a
meaningful message that will be delivered through the characters
body language and facial expression
