In Local News
New Jersey has been ranked as the worst state in the nation for trying to keep kids from
smoking. This is the fifth consecutive year for NJ not to spend money on trying to deter
kids from starting a smoking habit, as well as not spending money on programs to help
smokers quit according to a public health advocacy organization which ranked New
Jersey last due to the lack of effort made by the state in these areas. According to the
Tobacco Free Kids Campaign, by allocating no funds to help discourage tobacco use the
state does nothing to attempt to stop the 11,800 estimated deaths a year which are directly
related to the use of tobacco. While New Jersey sits as the worst state in this area on the
list, it is tied with Connecticut for the worst spot.

Three local New Jersey establishments in Bayonne, which have been in business for over
a decade are shutting their doors and closing, due to various reasons according to owners.
Chris Corner, Big Apple Sports Palace, and Victoria TV are all closing down, and
according to a manager of Chris Corner, the 57-year-old restaurant said that while
business has indeed slowed over the past few years the restaurant is closing due to a
multitude of things. Owners of Big Apple Sports Palace, a 40-year-old staple of the
community, are closing their doors so that they can spend more time with their
grandchildren. Victoria TV has not commented on the reasons they are closing their doors
to the public.

In National News
New information has been revealed concerning the alleged Russian hack into U.S.
Internet servers in order to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential election. U.S.
intelligence officials believe with a high level of certainty that Russian President
Vladimir Putin was personally involved with and over saw the cyber hack on the U.S. in
order to undermine the view of Hillary Clinton, and to help sway the outcome of the
election in favor of Donald Trump. Rumors from former CIA officials claim the Obama
Administration may plan a retaliation to the cyber-attack in some form of cyber-attack of
their own.

On Wednesday, the Obama Administration finalized a federal regulation that would

protect Planned Parenthood. The regulation bars states from blocking any federal funds
that are to be used for Planned Parenthood. The final ruling by the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services doesnt specifically mention Planned Parenthood
specifically, but rather organizations like it in general and will stop States from blocking
the funds for reasons "unrelated to the provider's ability to provide family planning
services."

Attacks in Aleppo continued Wednesday as the momentarily silent gun fire and bombings
were once again waged. The population continues to attempt evacuation in the chaos, but
many are getting caught in the crossfire of the violence. Many have taken to a social
media app, in some cases moments before another attack, to send out on final plea and
goodbye to the rest of their friends, family, and the rest of the world in teary eyed video
messages.

On Tuesday afternoon actor Alan Thicke passed away at the age of 69. Thicke is
remembered for his role on the long running T.V. series Growing Pains as well as making
appearances on the hit show How I Met Your Mother and, most recently, in Netflixs
Fuller House. The actor is survived by his wife Tanya Thicke, his son and Blurred
Lines singer Robin Thicke, as well as two other children Carter, and Brennan. From fans
to past and present co-stars, people have taken to social media to express their sense of
morning and loss for the star. One such person was that of Fuller House co-star Bob
Saget who wrote "So sad is the passing of Alan Thicke. Such a good husband, father,
brother, and friend, he will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan."
