INTRODUCTION

LITERATURE REVIEW & CRITICAL ANALYSIS

The compact township involves building modern facilities by constructing cities within villages
of Bangladesh. The modern facilities include health care, school, colleges, etc. The infrastructure
will be built in a specific region. So, the villagers would not have to squander their cultivable
land and will live within the specific fringe. Not only this, the stakeholders will also provide the
villagers with properly planned power supply, unlike the ill-planned power supplies which are
scattered in several areas of our country (The Daily Star, 2008).
According to Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Bangladesh has numerous resources like land, water,
and people. The majority of the people are dependent on agriculture. But these lands are
decreasing as the population is increasing and cultivable land are being used for housing. This is
creating pressure on agricultural land. Compact township approach is the solution to this problem
(Kamruzzaman, Rahman and Rahamatullah, 2009).
Compact Township can play a vital role in the economic development of the country because its
not only reducing the waste of cultivable land it is making a path for the people to increase their
standard of living implied Dr Sayed Abu Hasnat. Its always hard to develop an entire country
within a short period. In that case, the idea of Compact Township can be the solution, because is
manageable and affordable said Mizanur Rahman Shelley (Rahman, 2000). Moreover, Compact
Township is self-governing and self-financing. So, it is highly likely that there will be less Red
Tapism in the entire work, which will make the entire project dynamic.
