Consumer lans, expecially against gold, have growa by 51 percent whereas the growth in agricultural loans was 30 percent luring 2012. Total agriculture and consumer loans stood at Rs 131 billion atthe end of December last year. Talking about the rise in investment in goverament papers, Dr. Brohi said that while many local banks preferred to invest ia government securities, the NBP witnessed significant growth in advances Tocally as well as internationally. Budget 2013-14 ‘he long walt was over when the newly formed government unveiled what is being termed as ‘an investment and business friendly budget’ with a total outlay of Rs 3.5 tlio for the financial year 2013-14.
