Assistive Technology
There are many different ways for children to use assistive technology to better their
learning experience. This helps students who have disabilities or learning differences to stay
caught up to the rest of their classmates. Teachers and parents also use different technology for
the children to learn processes. Teachers also use assistive technology at times as well. They use
this when they have students who need to use it. It helps them learn for themselves so they know
how to help their students. It is important to intergrade this type of technology into the
classrooms so students have a variety of options to learn. They also wont feel left out when they
realize they need some extra help. Some students have issues with being able to hand write or
focus of hand writing. These are the students who find keyboards and touchscreen useful. With
just one touch of a button, or just one touch of the screen, a child is able to input a letter or word
they are looking to write. Keyboards are even able to come in different versions to help the
learning impaired students. Some keyboards will come color coordinated so that the students
know where their fingers are going, what letters they are typing or what symbols are they using.
Many keyboards can be made larger as well. Having a larger keyboard can help with students
who have sight problems or have a tough time typing in general. A touch screen can be enhanced
to a larger screen as well. Another assistive technology is are pencil grips. These help those
students who have trouble writing or holding a pencil. This pencil or pen grip helps the leverage
of pencil which will force students, or even elderly, write in a straight line.
