Eco World Development Group Berhad contributes to sustainable development through

educating future generations, environmental considerations prevailed and and the welfare of
society. These are several programmes conducted by the company to reflects their
corporate social responsibility.
Eco World Foundation Students Aid Programme
EW Berhads corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm is the Eco World Foundation, which
was launched in September 2014. The flagship programme, The Eco World Foundation
Students Aid Programme (SAP) provides financial assistance to about 3,000 underprivileged
primary, secondary and tertiary students with the objective of keeping these children of all
races in school.
SAP reaches out to students in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor, Sabah, Perlis,
Kedah and Pahang. With a budget of RM5 million per year, the programme adopts a holistic
approach by addressing every aspect of a primary students educational requirements from
equipping them for the new school year and arranging meals in school to paying their school
and tuition fees. Students who achieve good results in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah
Rendah (UPSR) examination are also eligible to apply for continued assistance under the
SAP to secondary education and subsequently the tertiary level as well. These are the
program that Eco World Foundation organized during 2015:
Sends volunteers to help clean up SJKC Yuk Chai in Kuala Krai, Kelantan.
The UPSR Excellence Award Ceremony in Kota Kinabalu.
Eco World Foundation donates tables and chairs worth RM186,300 to eight
schools in the Klang Valley and two schools in Perlis and Johor Bahru.
Eco World Foundation rewards UPSR top scorers.
Eco World Foundation gives 200 sets of student desk and chairs to SJK(C) Foon
Yew 1, Johor Bahru.
Eco World Foundation hands over canteen tables and benches to SJK(T)
Bentong, Pahang.
Flood Relief Mission
Throughout December 2014 right until beginning of 015, the East Coast of Malaysia was
badly affected by floods which hit the region hard. EcoWorld was quick to spring into action
by sending a total of 150 volunteers on seven separate missions to Kelantan over a span of
six months. Not only they helped rebuild Kampung Manek Urai but provided moral support to
flood victims in rebuilding their lives. A total of RM80,000 was raised by EcoWorld
employees for the villagers and six house cabins worth RM8,000each were also donated by
EcoWorld staff. These cabins offered shelter for those displaced by the floods while one
cabin served as a clinic to provide healthcare and advice to victims. The missions also
received strong support from caring purchasers and the public who made their way to
EcoWorld Galleries to drop off essential items and food stuff that were needed. The Eco
World Foundation also contributed RM150,000 to the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima
and the Federal Territories Foundation for the flood victims.
Eco World Leadership Development Programme
In January 2015, the EcoWorld Leadership Development Programme (EWLDP) was
launched as a platform to develop young leaders within the company and equip them with
tools to enhance their leadership skills and competencies. Participants were placed into
groups and tasked with identifying and executing CSR initiatives with a focus on educational,
healthcare, welfare or environmental themes. This programme was aimed at instilling in
future EcoWorld leaders the culture of being caring, responsible and actively giving back to
society. These are the projects under Eco World Leadership Development Programme:

Pre-School Classroom Makeover. The project was initiated at Sekolah Jenis


Kebangsaan Tamil Masai in Masai, Johor to convert a pre-existing classroom into a
pre-school, creating opportunities for early education for young underprivileged
children in the surrounding community.
Make-a-Raya-Wish Campaign. In the spirit of giving during the holy month of
Ramadhan, the team organised the campaign for the children from Rumah Anak
Yatim Miskin Kuala Langat where the children were given presents based on their
own wish lists. A spring cleaning activity was conducted by EcoWorld volunteers
together with the children involving painting, assembly of new furniture and repairing
of utilities.
The Bookworm Project. The objective of this project was to cultivate the reading habit
among children by creating a conducive environment for children to read and by
providing quality reading materials. The school selected was SJK(C) Bagan Pasir,
Tanjung Karang, Selangor.A book donation was initiated to collect suitable reading
materials for children between the ages of 5 and 12. With the sponsorship of Insato
Furniture Sdn Bhd, a cosy and comfortable reading space was created for the
children.
EcoWorld Pinwheel Project to educate the public on upcycling, EcoWorld volunteers
gathered to help make upcycled pinwheels by hand for distribution to visitors at the
Eco Majestic Under the Windmills festival. The team also built on the upcycle
initiative by creating a windmill sculpture entirely made out of recycled bottles. The
finished sculpture, made from 1,180 empty water bottles and stood 6.5 feet high with
a diameter of 3.3 feet, was completed and displayed at Eco Majestic Sales Gallery.
Lart Est Eco project which is a collaborative effort with Lim Kok Wing University, was
to provide a platform to students of the University to create sculptures from unwanted
household items. The objective of the project was to educate the public on enhancing
the value of unwanted items by upcycling. The sculptures were put on display at the
EcoWorld Gallery @ Eco Majestic in Semenyih where visitors were able to view them
and show their children the creative value of upcycling day-to-day waste materials.

Commitment to Green Living


The EcoWorld Green Council has established the Green Realisation Plan which focuses on
four Key Strategic Thrusts as follows:
Green Projects
The objective of this element is to ensure that our projects meet a minimum green
standard. Of the 14 action items identified to achieve this objective, Green
Certification has been made mandatory. Masterplans for all developments are
required to achieve at minimum, a Certified rating from any internationallyrecognised green standard certification body. They aim to increase the usage of
sustainable materials (i.e. Green Label or sustainably sourced) as well as
recycled/reclaimed materials. In the spirit of conservation, solar powered lighting will
be installed at parks and all show villages, whereas sales galleries and club houses
will be equipped with rainwater harvesting features.
Green Awareness
Under this key area, EcoWorld aims to raise awareness and educate their staff and
customers on going green. A Green Campaign for staff with programmes such as
Recycling Day and Green IDEAS campaign was held to inculcate a green mindset in
all EcoWorld staff. Staff are encourage to maintain small plants as well as conserve
energy and paper. For customers and the community at large, EcoWorld organise
green talks, campaigns and events to encourage the public to get actively involved in
conservation activities.
Green Research & Development
With Green R&D, achieving sustainability by investing in research and developing
intelligence to achieve greening goals. Action items include R&D with external parties

such as research institutions and industry leaders on specific items, conducting


studies on sustainable construction methodologies and participating in Green
Professional Bodies locally and abroad.
Green Image
The main focus of this strategy is to ensure that the EcoWorld branding is in line with
the companys vision and mission. Green Corners will be set up at their sales
galleries to showcase all efforts to green that particular project. They also intend to
develop a green section on the EcoWorld website to share green initiatives with the
public.

As for Feld Global Ventures Holding Berhad, they contributes to sustainable development by
focus more on safety and health issue. They also contribute in training and educating
programme as well as charity programme. These are the programmes that the company
organized to promote corporate social responsibility.
Gabonese Nationals Training Program
To ensure a sustainable future for the palm oil industry, a Project Agreement signed with
Olam International Ltd. on Gabonese Nationals Training Program. The objective of the
training programme is to help over 2,000 Gabonese smallholder farmers in Oil Palm
Plantation Management to become commercially viable RSPO certified plantation owners in
Gabon. This training has been conducted by FGV with the support of Olam with the first
batch of 54 participants. The four-month course included practical and classroom lessons
led by experienced trainers from FGV on plant and soil science, cultivating and maintaining
oil palm estates, RSPO standards, occupational safety and health, best agricultural
practices, as well as basic English language lessons.
Scholarships Programmes
Education is the key enabler that will build human capital, hence our investment in
scholarship programmes reflects our belief in nurturing the potential of young people. Until
end of 2014, FGV has awarded scholarships to 45 excellent SPM students to pursue their
undergraduate studies at top universities in the United Kingdom and to date, 12 of them
have already graduated and been placed at various subsidiaries. In 2015, FGV has
sponsored 24 students, who will undergo a degree program at local universities
Yayasan Felda
As for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), FGV helps spur variety of charitable causes
and initiatives focusing on education, healthcare and philanthropic through Yayasan Felda
that benefits settler communities, rural populace and Malaysians at large. In 2015 alone, we
allocated *RM7,327,682 to various programmes through Yayasan Felda.
Healthy Community Empowers the Nation
FGV became the first private sector organisation to launch a Komuniti Sihat Perkasa
Negara (KOSPEN) programme at Serting and Psir Gudang, involving some 3,000
employees, their families, the community and foreign workers.
The programme is run in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. It sets out to reduce the
incidence of Non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart attacks and stroke by
empowering the community to implement early intervention to reduce health risk factors. A
risk profile of the target populace is derived from a health screening exercise
conducted at the start of the programme. For the high risk group is referred straightaway to
local government health clinics for direct case management.
OSH in School
FGV is the lone company in Selangor that was selected to participate in Department of
Safety & Healths (DOSH) OSH in School programme. Part of its OSH Masterplan 2015, the
programme saw FGV paired with Kolej Vokasional Klang with a view to introduce and
inculcate OSH in institutions of learning. FGVs HSE team conducted safety audits and
workplace inspections, conducted a Chemical Health Risk Assessment, organised firstaid
workshops and chemical safety training programmes and contributed funds towards putting
up safety signs and billboards. FGV also mooted the
idea for and financed the creation of a Kelab Rakan OSH.
CAPACITY BUILDING & TRAINING
The key to implementing effective HSE management is having the human capital who are
knowledgeable, trained and competent. With this in mind, Corporate HSE as well as

individual companies within FGV Group conduct numerous capacity-building and training
programmes throughout the year. These range from general awareness programmes (OSH
Legal Requirements, Road Safety, OHSAS 18001, Effective Safety & Health Committees,
Ergonomics, Mental Stress), those aimed at equipping employees with technical skills
(Chemical Safety, HIRADC Training, Fire Fighting Training, Safe Motorcycle Riding, First
Aider) to those aimed at acquiring specific technical competencies (Safety & Health Officer
Course,Lead Auditor Course, Authorised Entry Standby Person, Permit To Work,Working at
Heights). Some of the programmes are conducted by internal trainers while others are
conducted by personnel from National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health, Social
Security Organisation and OSH consultants with industry-wide experience.
FGV had a packed training calendar in 2015, with Corporate HSE organising 67 training
programmes involving 1,996 persons while the subsidiary companies, collectively, organised
1,108 programmes involving 64,580 persons.
