Technical Description

The main functions of T/R Module are :

o
o
o

Amplify
the
RF
signal
for
Transmission/Reception;
Select the polarization of the
transmitted/received signal (H or V);
Control the amplitude and phase of
the transmitted/received signal

The T/R module is able to switch

between two different receiving paths and
two different transmitting paths for either
horizontal and vertical polarization: a T/R
Switch selects among the common
receiving path and one of two
transmission path (H or V), while a Pole
Switch selects between two receiving
LNA (H or V).

The T/R Module includes a calibration

port which is a signal path for the
instrument calibration.

8 T/R modules may be grouped on a EFE (Electronic

Front End) assembly which includes also the
following functions:
o

RF routing

DC Power conditioning (storage through bank

capacitors, switching, fuses protection)

Digital signal conditioning (commands receive

and distribution, protection against wrong
commands, telemetries return)
