Next, we will focus on the written news report. - Discuss with your partner: in what ways are news different from other essays or articles that we read? - Elicit in class. 2.2. During Stage: - Usually, in the content of news stories, there are six important elements. On p. 101, there is a piece of advice of news writing in ex. 3. Ask a student to read it. - What are the six elements? - Now I would like you to read the news report on the right and find out the six elements. Compare with your partner when you are finished. - Discuss the answers in class and elicit on screen. - So these are the components of contents in a piece of news. Now lets look at the language. - The writing language of news is actually quite similar to the broadcast. Only we call it the cautious language. - Why do they use cautious language again? - Under ex. 4a, there are four types of cautious language. In four groups, each group will find examples for one type. You only have 1 minute. - Elicit examples on screen. 2.3 Post-Stage: - Give handouts Weird News - Now I would like you to get in 3 groups.
