Disposing of radioactive materials in
accordance with the Ministerial Permit and
IAEA requirements and maintaining records to
document safe disposal.
Vehicles carrying radioactive materials shall be
labeled on both sides and the rear indicating
that radioactive materials are being
carried. The labels shall be in Arabic and
English as per MD 249/97 requires.
All exposures shall be kept As Low As
Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), Radiation
work shall have a minimum of 24 hours notice
to enable sufficient time to plan the work and
conduct a site visit. (Emergency work shall give
sufficient time for planning)
All Personnel are trained and competent to
operate the exposure devices safely.
All operations involving the use of ionizing
radiation shall be carried out by a minimum of
two qualified radiological workers.
Safe Distance 30Mtr from the test location to
be marked and area to be barricaded and
watcher to be provided.
Watcher to be appointed with flags to warn
the nearby people and to make sure nobody
enters the work area.

Job description: JHA for Radiography Test.

Member present: HSE Department, Project department, Operation Department.

The calibrated survey meter is used to confirm

appropriate positioning of radiation warning
signs and barriers around the radiography
work area.
Prior to visual inspection of the area, the
safety barriers shall be erected on all access
ways, to prevent people from entering the
restricted area during the inspection. This
includes preventing access above and below
the area.
The Radiographer and Assistant Radiographer
shall check the area to ensure that all nonauthorized personnel have left the area.
P.A. announcement shall be made to
announce the commencing of the radiography.
Each announcement shall be repeated twice.
Signages to be placed stating Radiography in
progress dont enter at prominent location.
Where Iridium 192 is used as a gamma source
for NDT, it shall not exceed a strength of
1.11TBq (30 Curies) on site without written
approval from the ORPIC, or Limitation of
Radiography Permit.
The exposure container shall be locked at all
times except when in actual use or under the
direct supervision of a radiographer.
HSE department will monitor radiographic

doses are ALARP. Under no circumstances shall
a radiographer be permitted to stand in the
Controlled Area.

Personal Monitoring device to be always
available with the technician.
Before using all the equipments should be
inspected for any damage or wear and tear.
Maintain daily and monthly dose record
through film badge.
Personal monitoring through dosimeter.
Dosimeter shall be calibrated to 0reading
prior to start the job
Calibration certificates for all the equipments
