The VARIAXIS i series is equipped with automatic compensation for room


temperature changes, the INTELLIGENT THERMAL SHIELD, to realize
enhanced continuous machining accuracy. MAZAK has performed extensive
testing in a variety of environments in a temperature controlled room and has
used the results to develop a control system that automatically compensates
for temperature changes in the machining area.

Machine Interference Prevention

INTELLIGENT SAFETY SHIELD


When an operator manually moves the machine axes for
setup, tool measurement by the Tool Eye or changing inserts,
the VARIAXIS i series shows a synchronized 3D model on
the CNC display for checking machine interference. If any
machine interference occurs, the machine motion immediately stops.

Machine vibration caused by axis-movement acceleration/deceleration can considerably affect machining

are realized and excessive tool nose wear is prevented.

Higher Accuracy
FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis was used in the design of the VARIAXIS i series.
The traveling column construction successfully suppresses vibration during operation involving high
acceleration/deceleration and maintains consistent high accuracy over the long term.
Additionally, the high-rigidity table features a trunnion design to provide high rigidity for high accuracy machining.
The table rotary axes utilize roller gear cams which eliminate backlash to ensure high- accuracy and
high-efficiency machining.

Turning operation

VARIAXIS i-700T

The rotary table (C-axis) is driven by a direct


drive motor for both C-axis positioning and
turning operation with a maximum spindle
speed of 1100 rpm. Turning is performed with
the A-axis in the 0 degree position or 90
degree position. Since the A-axis is rigidly
clamped on a coupling in the 0 or 90 degree
position for turning operations, high accuracy
machining over extended periods of operation
is ensured.

The PALLETECH SYSTEM is designed with the flexibility required for shorter product life cycles, reduced in-process
inventory, just-in-time production and other demands of today's manufacturing environment.
