The Education Undergraduate Society arranges and provides Professional Development
workshops for education students at the University of Lethbridge. This letter is written at the
request of Julie Laplante who attended the following seminars during the months of
January and February of20l6z
Richelle Marynowski: "Cooperative Learning Strategies"
This session willfocus on Cooperative Learning Strategies that highlight ways to get students moving in
the classroom and learningfrom each other. Specific strategies will be demonstrated with others
strate gies b eing de scr ib ed.

Leonard Sproule: "CTS: What It Is and How Can I Get Involved"


This session will focus on educating students on what the CTS program is and its associated resources
which will help you see where your talents fit into the grand scheme of CTS. The CTS program has
hundredsofclassoptions. Afterthissessionyouwillhavetheresourcesandbeginner'slmow-how
needed to move towards CTS.
Sharon Pelech and Darron Kelly: "Place-Based Learning - Education is More Than Just a

Classroom"
Students make lasting memories when they experience learning outside of the classroom. In this session
you will be able to learn ways that place-based learning can occur and the fficts it has on students

Broc Higginson: "Montessori Schools"


Come and hear from a local principle that leads Fleetwood-Bawden school here in Lethbridge.
Fleetwood-Bawden is a Montessori school and in this session he will introduce you to what makes this
type of school unique. Come and see if this type of schoolfits your skills and professional endeavors.
Corey Makoloski: "Introverts and Anxiety in a nutshell"
A two-part presentation - the first part will deal with 'the shy teacher'. Looking at some activities that
could be helpful in new situations and new classrooms.
A colleague of Corey's will be also be joining him, another employee of UofL who received her Master of
Social Work, Callista Chasse, who will be speaking about anxiety and ways to help reduce it.
Sharon Mezei: "Getting Ready for a Job: Contracts and More"
This session will be hosted by the Associate Superintendent and Human Resources for the Lethbridge
district 51 School Division. the session will deal with contracts and other important documents and
lmowledge you will need when looking for a job post-graduation.

Important remark: the above named has shown exceeding dedication to their professional
development as an educator by attending well over the required number of sessions to attain this
letter.
