The teacher informs students that there will be no formal homework this week so that families can enjoy the holiday season together. Classes will resume with the normal schedule in January when students return on the 9th for what is said to be a fabulous second semester. The teacher provides suggestions for an alien language game using index cards with vowels and recommends an educational website for language and math practice over the break.

**Have you played Alien Language? Write down
each vowel on a separate index card- a, e, I, o, u. Now shuffle them. Have your child turn them face up and read the short vowel sounds. Tell them what they said in their alien language (You told me I have purple hair!!)
Check out http://www.abcya.com if you havent yet! This is a great site for language and math practice.
