Abstract
Explosive welding is an accepted method in joining of dissimilar materials which has many applications
in most industries. The aim of this article is possibility of joining Aluminum to copper plates by
explosive welding in type of as known Scarf joint. Welding carried done after calculation by employing
explosives. Welded parts evaluated by mechanical tensile and shear tests. it id found that strength of
joint is more than strength of weaker plate. As result it can be said that joining of Aluminum to Copper
plate by Scarf type can be well done and by implementation explosive cladding calculation, smooth
and uniform bond can be achieved.
Keywords: Explosive Welding, Scarf Joint, Tensile Test, Explosives, Loading Ratio, Collision Velocity,
Welding Window, Flyer Plate, Standoff Distance.
