Predictions of disasters and hazards, and reduce the incidence, is

most important risk management issues in hospital accreditation
standards and clinical governance.
Risk assessment allows physicians to provide patients and families
realistic expectations of the potential risks and benefits of surgery,
enabling them to make informed decisions about their health care.
There are numerous risk stratification scores and systems that have
been developed from large databases to quantity the mortality and
morbidity risks of cardiac surgery.
The European System for Cardiac Operative Risk Evaluation
(EuroSCORE) was developed between 1995 and 1999 to provide a
simple, additive risk model in European adult cardiac surgery .

Articles and book-related content EUROSCORE

Results published from 1999 to 2013 are
examined.
In this study the researcher has not find any article
or book in Persian about EUROSCORE issue.

Studies show that EuroSCORE is valid and reliable for

assessing peri operative mortality rate in cardiac surgery.
The EuroSCORE database is large, up-to-date and unrivalled in
completeness and accuracy.
EuroSCORE is sound in planning and derivation, easy to use and
applicable either as a paper system or through information
technology
Nashef, 1999: From September to November 1995, information
on risk factors and mortality was collected for 19030
consecutive adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery under
cardiopulmonary bypass in 128 surgical centres in eight
European states.

Nashef SA 2002:EuroSCORE was initially designed to be a userfriendly system, in the hope of encouraging as many units as possible
to embark on programs of risk-adjusted quality monitoring.
Cohn 2012,219: EuroSCORE is the most rigorously Evaluated scoring
system in cardiac surgery
Nashef SA 2012: EuroSCORE II is based on a parametric study of risk
factors in 22,381 patients from 154 hospitals in 43 countries who claim
to offer the best patient care in the field of cardiac surgery has been
established.
This system has little sensitivity in patients over 95 years old and under
18 As well as does not play a role in postoperative morbidity rates.
Nashef SA 2012: EuroSCORE II is beter calibrated than the original
model yet preserves powerful discrimination.

Results & Conclusion

The implementation of this system can examine

how to evaluate the performance of cardiac
surgeons and quality of care provided in hospitals.
Preoperative risk assessment is critical to minimize
perioperative and long-term morbidity and
mortality.
It is Recommend to medical centers to use of the
criteria for risk assessment in cardiac surgery
patients.( this system has been implemented for all heart surgery patients in the
Lavasani hospital . Start Date : 01/08/1392.)
